Staff Highlight: Emilia Cebrat-Maslowski

At Quad9, we aim to show appreciation for the dedication of our staff and their contributions to the growth and health of the organization by showcasing quarterly staff highlights. This quarter, we are featuring our Director of Threat Intelligence, Emilia Cebrat-Maslowski.

As Director of Threat Intelligence, Emilia is responsible for a wide range of tasks and collaborates with multiple teams to improve the experience of Quad9 users. These projects include teaming up with threat intelligence partners to acquire and implement new threat data for user protection, analyzing our telemetry data to identify emerging threats and produce reports like the Cyber Insights report, and developing new products that could benefit our partners. Emilia mentions, “One particularly impactful project was our collaboration with the Malawi Internet Exchange Point (MIX) in Blantyre. This project was a pivotal moment for me at Quad9, demonstrating our real-world impact on underserved communities and solidifying my belief that I'm contributing to something truly important.”

Before joining Quad9 almost three years ago, Emilia worked in the Swiss financial sector as the Intelligence Sector Lead for Fraud and Financial Crime where she performed investigations of active cyber fraud-related threats, presented intelligence reports to senior management, and provided consultation and threat briefings to cross-regional and cross-functional stakeholders. She says, “My position working in a bank taught me that while technical details aren't always necessary, everyone needs a high-level understanding of the threat landscape. This role shaped my approach to threat intelligence and fostered my independence.”

Emilia notes that the goals of Quad9 are much different than the financial institution she came from, but she finds commonality in working to protect the end user. She states, “I've always sought impactful work, and Quad9 delivers. Seeing the sheer volume of blocked queries, the diversity of threats we mitigate, and our global reach is truly inspiring. We often protect users who lack access to advanced security solutions, making Quad9 their sole line of defense.”

When asked about her time at Quad9, Emilia states, “I'm consistently impressed by how much our small team accomplishes and how effectively and productively we operate. I'm deeply grateful for a role where I can directly improve people's daily lives and online experiences.”
